Between blueberry sales, meat pie orders and online music bingo, this little club used the funds to give directly back to the community. In the past few months they, along with the Chilliwack Fraser – Rotaract Club, donated $1,200 to Sardis elementary’s breakfast program.
The online music bingo brought in more than $2,400.
One creative idea which was a huge success was supplying hot meals one night a week for a month to all of the seniors at the Crystal Ridge Manor, giving a much-needed break to staff.
“These meals came at a rough time when it was hard to find staff during this challenging time,” said Crystal Ridge Manor manager Margaret Kostrzewa. “This little club has been a God send for us. They quietly come alongside to put a smile on our faces and we are grateful.”
“It was a win-win as we used our meat pie supplier Lori’s Diner to supply the meals,” said Joan Patterson, president of the Rotary Club of Chilliwack After Hours.
Plans are underway to continue the blueberry and meat pie sales along with other events to assist in their service projects and charities.
The club is hoping to meet in person again at the Chilliwack Curling Club on the first and third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. starting in September. They are looking for new members to join.
